‘The Major German Brands’: LEONHARD KURZ joins German Design Council

Fürth/Germany, August 27, 2021: For more than 120 years, LEONHARD KURZ has stood for innovative developments with a special focus on design. Now the thin-film specialist from Fürth once again underlines the important role that design plays for the company as it joins the German Design Council.

Open exchange platform

Once specialized in gold leaf production, KURZ now develops and produces a wide range of decorative and functional coatings that are applied to carrier foils. Surface finishing is used in the printing and packaging industry, in the automotive sector, and in the electronics and textile industries. “Designers work with our products in all of these areas,” explains Annie Kuschel, Head of Design Management Graphic Industry at KURZ. “We want to be there for you as a competent point of contact at all times. It’s therefore essential for us to stay in touch with designers and be familiar with their needs and challenges. The German Design Council gives us exactly this opportunity.”

In the best company

The German Design Council is one of the world’s leading centers of excellence in the field of design, branding, and innovation. For more than 65 years, it has supported companies in their brand and design development and offers a forum for knowledge transfer. Today, its membership is comprised of more than 350 well-known companies from various sectors.

Always up-to-date

This year, KURZ will be included in the German Design Council’s publication ‘The Major German Brands’. The thin-film specialist’s products were already honored several times with the Council’s prestigious prizes, such as the ABC Award in the field of mobility and the Special Mention of the German Design Award in the Packaging category.

The award-winning designs were developed on the basis of the comprehensive trend research that KURZ conducts across industries. “We’re keen to share the knowledge and experience we have gained - this is a commitment that’s very close to our heart,” emphasizes Annie Kuschel. “That’s why we are already actively involved in several associations, such as bayern design and the European Brand & Packaging Design Association, and are all the more pleased to be accepted as a foundation member of the German Design Council.”
