KURZ slim technology: Efficiency, brilliance, and sustainability redefined

Fürth/Germany, 29. August 2025: LEONHARD KURZ sets another milestone in surface finishing with its slim technology. By reducing the carrier thickness from 12 µm to 10 µm (for hot stamping) and 6 µm (for cold transfer), the technology offers noticeable advantages for processors – in technical, economic, and ecological terms.

Optimized processes for higher productivity

The optimized layer structure ensures a significantly increased gloss level, more precise release and greater efficiency in production. Thanks to fewer roll changes, processors can make their processes more efficient and reduce downtimes. Overall, the slim technology optimizes the finishing process, which is reflected in both the process and the quality.

Sustainability as an integral part

The slim technology also sets standards in terms of sustainability: Compared to the original carrier thickness, the reduced use of PET lowers material consumption, waste volumes, and disposal costs, significantly reducing the CO2 footprint. Thanks to the lower weight and the same number of running meters, users also benefit from easier handling and lower transport emissions.

These advantages complement KURZ's comprehensive sustainability concept: The finishing process does not leave any plastic films or laminates on the end products and does not impair their recyclability. With the RECOSYS® 2.0 take-back and recycling system, the embossed PET-carriers are ultimately recycled in a resource-saving manner. Stéphane Royère, Head of Business Area Packaging and Print, International Sales and Marketing, is highly satisfied with the development: "With slim technology, we offer our customers a solution that combines increased efficiency, the highest finishing quality, and various sustainability aspects in a single product. Our goal was to develop a technology that noticeably reduces the workload for processors in their everyday work while conserving resources."

Patented innovation for practical use

Products such as KPS slim 2.0 and KPW XU slim and ECOFIN® CWO slim use KURZ slim technology and are protected by European patent EP 4069522 B1.
