Interpack 2026: KURZ Sets the Pace for Future-Oriented Finishing as Part of the PrintCity Alliance

Fürth/Germany, March 24, 2026: The packaging industry operates at the intersection of brand presentation, efficiency requirements, and increasing regulatory mandates. At interpack 2026, LEONHARD KURZ will demonstrate - both as part of the PrintCity Alliance and at its own booth - how these requirements can be integrated into comprehensive finishing solutions. The focus of the trade show presentation will be on the SILVER LINE®, LUMAFIN®, and LUXOR®/ALUFIN® product lines. In addition, the company will present sustainability-oriented material concepts such as ‘slim’ technology and the RECOSYS® 2.0 take-back system. In doing so, it is driving innovation for sustainable packaging solutions within the context of legal frameworks such as the EU’s ‘Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation’ (PPWR). Another highlight is the live demonstration of the MPRINT MJET® X-series as a practical example of the combination of finishing and digital printing technology.

Finishing with Added Value

Whether hot stamping, cold transfer, or digital finishing - KURZ offers solutions for various technologies and process requirements in packaging production. At interpack, the company will demonstrate how design impact and functional properties can be systematically combined.

With SILVER LINE®, KURZ is introducing a product for metallic designs with an achromatic depth effect. The combination of diffractive structures and strategically placed mirror surfaces creates nuanced light reflections that give packaging - especially in the premium segment - a strong visual presence. LUMAFIN® provides a transparent surface finish with a distinctive backlit effect: Underprint motifs remain visible, gain intensity through the optical depth, and thus create subtle yet effective eye-catchers at the point of sale.

LUXOR®/ALUFIN® is a versatile classic that can be used in a wide range of packaging and labeling applications and is continuously optimized for performance and sustainability. Its extensive design variety offers numerous color shades, thereby opening up additional creative possibilities for packaging concepts that differentiate brands.

Sustainability with a strategic focus: Material efficiency and circular economy concepts

Against the backdrop of the PPWR, KURZ demonstrates how finishing can be reconciled with regulatory requirements. The goal is to support packaging design that is suitable for recycling. In addition, the company has systematically reduced material usage through its ‘slim’ technology. In doing so, the transfer carriers have been reduced to as little as 6 µm. This allows PET usage to be reduced by up to 50 percent without compromising the functional performance of the application. The technology thus contributes to resource efficiency in the process chain.

With RECOSYS® 2.0, KURZ is pursuing an expanded approach to the collection and recycling of used KURZ PET carrier films from its customers. At the company’s own recycling facility, the material is processed into RECOSYS® rPET, which can be reused in various applications - such as technical textiles. The system supports closed-loop material cycles and complements the sustainability strategy along the value chain.

Live at the booth: MPRINT MJET® X-series

With a live demonstration of the MPRINT MJET® X-series, KURZ illustrates how digital printing technology can be integrated into existing production environments. The compact digital printing system, with a maximum web width of 250 mm, is designed for small to medium print runs and is suitable both as a stand-alone solution and for nearline use on filling or production lines. The modular design enables flexible application scenarios, such as for variable data, versioning, or short-notice product adjustments. Ergonomic features such as the variable height adjustment of the roll holders support efficient setup processes and daily operations. The MJET® X-series thus underscores the trend toward more process-integrated, digitally supported finishing and printing solutions.
