interpack 2023: LEONHARD KURZ inspires and focuses on sustainability

Fürth/Germany, April 4, 2023: The circular economy, resource conservation, digital technologies, and product safety – these are the ‘hot topics’ of interpack 2023 in Düsseldorf. The world’s largest trade fair for the packaging and processing industries had to take a break in 2020 due to the Corona pandemic. Still, at its last edition in 2017, it attracted more than 170,000 visitors and over 2,800 exhibitors from 55 countries to the North Rhine-Westphalian capital. Now it will open its doors again from May 4 to 10, 2023. Not least due to the long break, the event is again expected to set new records in terms of exhibitor and visitor numbers.

For LEONHARD KURZ, participating at interpack 2023 is set in stone, since the trending topics at the trade show reflect 100 percent of the focal points that are essential for the Fürth-based expert in high-quality surface finishes. At interpack 2023, KURZ will present sustainable processes, new machine technologies, and innovative finishing solutions under the motto ‘making every product unique.’ Other highlights include the ‘Inspiration Wall’ at the company’s booth, C36, in Hall 8a.

RECOSYS® 2.0: Optimized process and extended possibilities

KURZ is continuously developing its solutions in terms of sustainability, for example, by creating a transfer carrier up to 50 percent thinner than usual to reduce material usage. With RECOSYS®, the thin-film specialist has also become the first company in the world in the plastics industry to develop a take-back and recycling system in which used carrier material can be reprocessed. At interpack 2023, KURZ will present a further development of RECOSYS® that enables even greater CO2 savings thanks to an optimized process. RECOSYS® 2.0 is an absolute highlight topic for KURZ, as illustrated impressively by the extraordinary booth concept. Trade fair visitors can obtain first-hand information directly at booth C36 in Hall 8a.

Digital metallization for unusual customer requirements

With digital embellishment via DM-SMARTLINER, design freedom has virtually no limits. At their booth, KURZ will display various exhibits decorated with their innovative digital printing machine, demonstrating the numerous advantages of digital finishing. DM-SMARTLINER applies metallic finishes quickly and efficiently to paper and cardboard. The interaction between the substrate and the printing inks creates wow effects and turns products into real eye-catchers. Digital printing saves costs and energy and can be customized to meet individual customer requirements. Metallic finishes with DM-SMARTLINER also offer high resolution and impressive brilliance and can be overprinted effortlessly. With the DIGITAL METAL® overall concept, KURZ demonstrates the company’s expertise as a machine manufacturer and as a provider of holistic solutions.

Lots of inspiration and 3D visualizations of high-quality packaging designs

At the so-called ‘Inspiration Wall,’ KURZ will present unique samples and prototypes at interpack 2023 to provide inspiration and make new finishing options tangible. The displayed samples show visitors various options and let them discover new decoration solutions from KURZ. With TRUSTCONCEPT®, for example, KURZ will present comprehensive security concepts as well as innovative product and brand protection approaches, thus showcasing the wide range of options for optical and digital security features that can be individually tailored to customer requirements.

With subsidiary KURZ Digital, KURZ will demonstrate inspiring highlights from the digitalization and technological transformation world. For example, visitors can experience innovative NFT and blockchain application examples at the booth and try them out.

High-quality designs can be created with the help of the DREAMCOMPOSER® software, which KURZ will present live at the booth. The application by KURZ Digital is specifically developed for designers, advertising agencies, brand owners, and converters. With over 100 accurate transfer decorations and exclusive design effects, it enables the visualization of high-quality patterns in 3D. The great advantage is that experimenting virtually with different finishes is incredibly easy and cost-saving, eliminating the need for time-consuming and costly prototyping. On the screen, trade fair visitors can easily try out different color shades or metallization, and also embossing effects such as relief, patterns, and structures from the catalog of KURZ subsidiary H+M. It is also very easy to exchange information with the client so that changes can be implemented directly, and everyone involved has the current model on their screen. During live demonstrations at the booth, visitors can experience how a virtual 3D model is created from a PDF document in just a few steps.
