EcoVadis Sustainability Rating 2025: LEONHARD KURZ awarded silver

Fürth/Germany, November 20, 2025: Fürth-based company LEONHARD KURZ, a specialist in thin-film technology and surface finishing, has been awarded the silver medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating 2025. KURZ improved its rating in all categories assessed compared to the previous year and is now among the top 15 percent of all companies rated worldwide. Within its industry, the company even ranks among the top 6 percent. The EcoVadis rating is based on international sustainability standards and assesses the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The award recognizes companies that implement their commitment to sustainability in a systematic and transparent manner.

Clear sustainability vision

Under the motto ‘Be a green leader,’ KURZ consistently pursues its sustainability goals and continuously optimizes its own products and processes - with the long-term goal of becoming completely CO₂-neutral by 2040. The regular adjustments and improvements in sustainability are reflected in the EcoVadis rating: Compared to the previous year, the company has improved significantly in all areas assessed. Among other things, KURZ has made a big leap forward in the areas of ethics and labor and human rights. The assessment shows that the introduction of additional measures has a positive effect on the company's development in terms of sustainability. CEO Dr. Andreas Hirschfelder also sees the award as confirmation of the company's sustainability developments. "The renewed award from EcoVadis confirms that we are on the right track with our sustainability strategy," says Dr. Andreas Hirschfelder. The company has made significant improvements compared to the previous year, particularly in the area of the environment. KURZ received particularly good ratings in the assessment of the measures taken to support its own sustainability guidelines and environmental certifications.

EcoVadis is a global provider of sustainability ratings in global supply chains. Using international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative and the UN Global Compact, EcoVadis assesses the sustainability performance of companies and provides them with targeted support on their path to responsible business practices. The assessment of the individual areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement is based on seven management indicators, such as certifications and measures implemented. Criteria such as the resource-efficient use of raw materials, energy consumption, and CO₂ emissions are included in the overall assessment. The responsible treatment of employees is also taken into account. The assessment is carried out by independent experts.
